Reconfiguring Relations: Political, Ecological, and Cultural: Call for Presentation Abstracts 2026 CARE ETHICS RESEARCH CONSORTIUM (CERC) Conference

Korea University, Seoul, South Korea, June 25-27, 2026

The Care Ethics Research Consortium (CERC) is a global, interdisciplinary community focused on the in-depth exploration and advancement of care ethics (see https://care-ethics.com/). The 4th biennial CERC Conference, the first of its kind to be held in Asia, is scheduled to take place at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. Scholars from all disciplines are invited to submit an abstract for a 20-minute presentation on the theme of “Reconfiguring Relations: Political, Ecological, and Cultural.”

Care ethics has called into question existing political, ecological, and cultural privileges. We invite you to share alternative ideas and initiatives that envision new relationships centered around care. These new perspectives can lead to innovative political, ecological, and cultural communication and solidarity. Your contributions can be the start of a transformative commitment to care on a global scale. We invite you to include learning from non-Eurocentric
cultures and from those who have been marginalized everywhere. All scholarly approaches are welcome, including those that address or employ theory, empirical data, application, policy, aesthetics, etc.

The conference will be divided into in-person panels and online panels, which will be held at separate times. The in-person panels, primarily for on-site participation, will be held at Korea University. These in-person panels will also be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing online streaming and participation. The online panels will take place at alternative time slots during the conference period (early morning or late at night in Korea Standard Time) to accommodate presenters from various time zones.

Please send your 300-word abstract for peer review to cerc.conference.2026@gmail.com by Friday, October 31, 2025. In the subject line, please type ‘CERC proposal’ and your last name. Individuals may only submit one proposal. In your email, please include a brief biographical
note (250 words max) with your main research interests and institutional affiliation (if applicable). Attach a Word document to the email that is anonymous and ready for peer review.

The Word document should contain:
– presentation format: in-person or online (For online presentations, please also state
– your time zone, e.g., Eastern Time Zone, Pacific Time Zone, Central European Time Zone)
– the title of the presentation, the abstract (300 words max), which should outline the main arguments of the paper, as well as its theoretical and/or empirical contribution(s) to the existing literature (and a few words on methodology, if applicable)
– presentation equipment requirements and/or special accommodation (if applicable)
– presentation language (The official language of the conference is English. However, if you wish to present it in another language, we are considering using a Zoom simultaneous translation caption system. Please be aware that this system may not fully convey the content of the presentation.)

Criteria for selection include:
effective and clear engagement with the conference themes;
clarity of the abstract; contribution to the diversity of presentations; and potential significance for advancing the field of care ethics. Panel proposals will also be considered (please include a brief description of the panel, abstracts of three papers, and the names of a chair).

Decisions regarding the abstracts will be announced in December 2025. Please note that the selected abstracts for our conference will be posted (as received) on our website before the event.
